    The registry document is issued on a prescribed form, contains the information entered in the registry book and is provided with special security features against forgery and alteration.
  5. When to deal with the matter
    The fiancés shall book the date of the marriage at the Registry Department of the Brno City District Office during a personal visit. Reservation of marriage dates for wedding ceremonies in the Ceremonial Hall of the New Town Hall and for wedding ceremonies held outside the designated ceremonial hall in the territory of the registry office district is possible five months in advance. Thus, for example, from the first office day in May, you may book dates for wedding ceremonies in the whole month of October. By the agreed date, the fiancés, or one of the fiancés, shall present a completed and signed “Questionnaire for entering into marriage” and the originals of all necessary documents to the Registry Department. After the marriage is concluded, the marriage certificate is issued by the registry office and the fiancés may collect it 10 days after the marriage, at which time they will also be given back the other documents, if applicable.

  7. What needs to be submitted when initiating the act other than electronically
    During the personal visit, both fiancés (or one fiancé for both of them) shall submit a completed “Questionnaire for entering into marriage” signed by both fiancés, which can be picked up at the Registry Department, and the following:
    • Proof of identity
    • Birth certificate
    • Proof of citizenship (can be substituted by an identity card or a passport)
    • Extract of the data from the population records information system about the place of residence (can be substituted by an identity card)
    • Extract from the population records informing of the marital status (can be substituted by an identity card)
    • Final judgement of dissolution of the previous marriage (if the fiancé is divorced)
    • A death certificate of the deceased spouse (if the fiancé is widowed)
    • Court’s final judgement of cancellation of the partnership or a death certificate of the deceased partner (if the fiancés lived in a partnership)
    • Birth certificates of their children (if the fiancés already have children together)
    • where applicable, the birth certificates of the bride’s children (if the father of these children is unknown)
    • an application for permission to marry outside the designated ceremony hall (if the fiancés have this requirement).

  9. Where and how to initiate the act other than electronically
    By a personal visit to the competent registry office of the place where the fiancés wish to marry.
    If the fiancés intend to get married at the Ceremonial Hall of the New Town Hall or outside the Ceremonial Hall in the districts of Brno-střed (Brno-Centre), Bohunice, Bosonohy, Kohoutovice, Nový Lískovec or Starý Lískovec, then by a personal visit to the Registry Office of the Brno-Centre District Office, Nádražní 4, office hours: Monday and Wednesday 8.00 a.m.-5.00 p.m.

    No fee, except:
    • the administrative fee for marriage ceremony outside the prescribed hours or outside the ceremony room; it amounts to CZK 1 000;
    • the administrative fee for marriage ceremony between fiancés neither of whom has permanent residence in the Czech Republic; it amounts to CZK 3 000;
    • the administrative fee for marriage ceremony between fiancés of whom only one has permanent residence in the Czech Republic; it amounts to CZK 2 000.
